What to Expect at Your Permanent Makeup Appointment?

Permanent makeup is a simple, comfortable way to wake up looking polished every day. At Yen Massage & Spa, we make sure your experience is relaxing, safe, and confidence-boosting from start to finish.

Consultation & Design
We begin with a personalized consultation to discuss your goals, desired style, and skin type. Together, we select the right color and shape to complement your natural features.

During the Procedure
A topical numbing cream keeps you comfortable while your artist carefully implants pigment using advanced techniques. Most services take about 2–3 hours.

Right After Your Service
Your brows, eyeliner, or lips will look a little darker and more defined at first—this is completely normal and part of the healing process.

Healing Process
Over the next 7–14 days, the color softens as your skin heals. Mild flaking or scabbing is expected. With proper aftercare, your results will settle into a soft, natural look that enhances your features.

Follow-Up & Longevity
A touch-up session 6–8 weeks later perfects your results. With good care, permanent makeup lasts 2–3 years, with optional yearly refreshes to maintain vibrancy.

✨ Wake up with confidence every day—your natural beauty, enhanced.

✨ Permanent Makeup Before & After Care

✅ Before Your Appointment

To ensure the best results and a smooth healing process:

1–2 Weeks Before:

  • Avoid sunburn, tanning beds, or chemical peels.

  • Stop using Retinols, Retin-A, AHAs, BHAs, or exfoliating products near the treatment area.

  • Do not get Botox, fillers, microneedling, or laser treatments in the area.

3–5 Days Before:

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications or supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, niacin, alcohol) unless prescribed by your doctor.

  • Keep the skin moisturized and healthy—avoid dryness or irritation.

Day of Your Appointment:

  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, creams, or oils.

  • Eat a light meal—this helps stabilize blood sugar.

  • Avoid caffeine or energy drinks (can increase sensitivity).

  • Wear comfortable clothing and allow 2–3 hours for your session.

🩹 Aftercare Instructions (Healing Period: 7–14 Days)

Your permanent makeup will go through several healing phases. Follow these guidelines closely:

First 24 Hours:

  • Gently blot the area with a clean tissue to remove excess lymph fluid.

  • Do not wash or apply any ointments yet.

Days 2–10:

  • Cleanse gently twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser (if instructed by your artist). Pat dry with a clean tissue.

  • Apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare ointment (not Vaseline) with clean hands or a cotton swab.

  • Expect mild flaking or scabbing—this is normal. Do not pick, scratch, or peel.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face. Use a clean pillowcase.

During Healing, Avoid:

  • Sweating (gym, sauna, hot yoga, heavy exercise).

  • Swimming, hot tubs, and long hot showers.

  • Makeup on or near the treated area.

  • Direct sun exposure or tanning.

  • Touching the area with unclean hands.

🌸 Healing Timeline

  • Days 1–3: Color looks darker, sharper, and more defined.

  • Days 4–7: Scabbing/flaking may occur, color looks patchy.

  • Days 7–14: Skin heals, color appears lighter or faded.

  • Weeks 4–6: Pigment resurfaces and stabilizes. True healed color is visible.

  • 6–8 Weeks: Touch-up session perfects the shape and color.

🌟 Long-Term Care

  • Always apply SPF 30+ on the treated area to prevent fading.

  • Avoid harsh skincare products (Retinols, AHAs, chemical peels) on the treated area.

  • Plan for a color refresh every 1–3 years depending on your skin type and lifestyle.

Important Reminder: Permanent makeup is a 2-step process. The touch-up session is essential for best results.
